International Customers Please Read Below

We have began shipping internationally on a country by country basis. If your country isn’t listed please contact us. Please note that there is no approval period on instruments that ship outside of the United States. We are not responsible for customs or shipping delays on international shipments. The customer is responsible for all customs fees and taxes.

USA Shipping & Handling Rates

Orders over $149 ship free, orders under $149 are flat rate shipping of $7.99 – in the Continental USA.  FedEx is our exclusive carrier for all shipments in the Continental USA.  Instrument orders are shipped via FedEx Ground. All other smaller orders are shipped via FedEx 2 Day or USPS Priority Mail.   All instruments are sent signature required. If you aren’t able to receive with a signature you can have it held at a FedEx Office location of your choice. If you don’t provide that at checkout page you can request it held from your tracking number on FedEx.com via the Virtual Assistant. Additional charges will apply for delivery address changes after an item has been shipped. FedEx charges $20 for the Delivery Intercept service.  If you refuse a package and it is returned to us, you will not be refunded the shipping cost and you will be still be responsible for the return shipping fees.

Alaska / Hawaii / APO

Instrument shipments to Alaska, Hawaii and APO’s do not ship for free.   You must select the shipping box to your location.  If not selected we will contact you via email or phone.

Sales Tax – USA

Shipments within the state of TN are required to pay 9.25% sales tax.  Shipments outside of Tennessee are not required to pay Tennessee sales tax.

Return Policy – Continental USA Only

Instruments shipped outside the 48 states do not have any approval period.  Fall, Winter, & Spring, it’s important to leave your instrument sit for 24 hours before you open it to allow it to acclimate.   Sudden temperature changes can cause finish checking.   Therefore, we offer an 48 hour evaluation period on instruments with the following exceptions:  in store sales, instruments altered at time of purchase, special orders, custom instruments and trades – no approval period on these.  If an instrument is to be returned you must us advise us at,sales@themandolinstore.com, and the instrument must be in route via FedEx or UPS ONLY back to us the next business day after the initial 48 hours from the time the instrument was delivered. If you ship it back USPS it will be returned to sender.  You will be refunded the cost of the instrument less shipping and if using PayPal or Amazon Pay a 3% non-refundable processing fee– fees for ground are listed below.  There are no refunds on upgrades to shipping costs.  Customers are responsible for any and all damage done to the instrument while in their possession and damages via return shipping. Anything outside of these polices may incur additional restocking fees. The Mandolin Store is not liable for incorrect spelling, pricing errors, or incorrect mfg specifications.

Shipping Damage

In the rare case your instrument arrives damaged please contact us immediately.   We will pick that instrument up and send a replacement immediately.  If a replacement is not available, then we will issue a full refund.

Return Shipping & Fees

We ship instruments outbound for free only if you keep them.  The following charges only apply if the item is returned.  This covers our outbound shipping, insurance, and handling expenses. If you choose to upgrade your shipping you will be out the actual shipping cost.  Customers are also responsible for return shipping and insurance.  As of 10/1/19 there is an additional 3% restocking fee to cover non refundable merchant fees from Paypal.

Octaves / Bouzoukis / Mandocellos / Guitars

$50 East of Mississippi / $60 West

Guitars shipped methods other than ground are subject to the actual shipping cost

Special Orders / Custom Instruments

Special order and custom instruments require a non-refundable deposit. Depending on the instrument and build time that may range from 20%-50% That deposit can be in the form of a cash payment or an instrument trade in of equal or greater value. The balance is due upon completion of the instrument and delivery to The Mandolin Store.   If you default on these terms, you may lose you deposit and the instrument may be sold.  All sales are final on custom order in instruments but in some cases special order instruments may be exchanged at our discretion.


In the event of a warranty problem, customers are responsible for both inbound and outbound shipping.   Shipping charges are not covered under any manufacturer’s warranties. Items shipped outside of the USA have no warranty. New instrument warranties are good to the original owner only.  Those warranties are as follows:   Weber, Collings, Gibson, Lafferty,  Ellis, Pava, Eastman, & The Loar carry a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner.  Pono & Northfield carry a five year limited warranty.  Kentucky, Trinity College, Rover and Godin, are 1 year.

Information We Collect

We collect aggregate information on visits made to our pages. This information helps us improve the content of our site. When you purchase a product on themandolinstore.com, we ask you for the following information: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and credit card. This information is used to process your order and if necessary, to contact you for help when we are processing an order. All information we collect is stored in a secure database. Credit Card information is not stored and immediately erased when the transaction is submitted. The Mandolin Store  also collects e-mail addresses voluntarily to inform our customers that we received the order.

Disclosure of Information Policy

We do not share your contact information with any other companies or organizations.  You may receive periodic e-mails from The Mandolin Store to let you know of product specials or news of interest.   If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please let us know by unsubscribe at the bottom of the email or emailing us.
