Posted on JayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently decided to upgrade my mandolins (I had an Eastman PCH and a Kentucky KM-505), to try to inspire more practice and playing. I found the Mandolin Store online, and picked out an instrument I thought would be an upgrade, but turned out not to be. I was bummed because I had a strap button installed, and assumed that meant I would be unable to return it for a refund. I called the store, spoke to Zach, and was struck by his helpfulness and willingness to allow a return. He then highly recommended their own Lafferty line, and guaranteed those would be an upgrade. He also told me that the LF-1 (then listed at 3,750) was as good as instruments in his store costing twice as much. After considerable thought, I decided to take the jump, and I’m very happy I did. The LF-1 is an amazing instrument, it blew me away immediately with its volume and clarity. I particularly loved/love the meatiness of the mid-range; it can do whatever one wants it to do, the chop is crisp and clear, individual notes have a bright, loud sweetness to them. The neck, fretboard, and fretwork is stellar, as good as any I’ve seen on a fretted instrument; the frets are fully dressed and polished, there is not a single buzzing fret anywhere. The neck is a “soft” V, which I’m just getting used to, but happy to have, it allows a bit more reach and leverage in fretting. The tuners are good too, no skimping on those. Aesthetically, the mandolin is a thing of beauty with a very nicely executed burst on the top. Honestly, I can’t imagine a better playing, sounding instrument, and my hope to be inspired to play more is happening—haven’t put it down since I bought it…they will have to pry it out of my dead hands some day. I also can’t say enough kind things about Zach at the Mandolin store, he’s awesome. If you feel inclined to buy a new instrument, do give him a call before purchasing, he’s extremely helpful and just a great human being!Posted on Lucy LTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve bought 2 mandolins from The Mandolin Store over the past few years, my most recent purchase being a Lafferty octave mandolin. It’s beautiful, feels comfortable and sounds amazing! I also played some of the other Lafferty mandolins they have, which are great builds as well, but fell in love with this octave and had to take it home!! After wanting one for many years, this was the one! :) I’ve always been impressed with their great customer service too, Zach has been extremely helpful and answered all my questions. Thank you guys!Posted on Tim EllmersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Mandolin Store is top notch in customer service and a place that will surely help you find your next "forever" mandolin. I was interested in upgrading my beginners Kentucky KM 606 mandolin and Zach quickly responded to my inquiry and we set up a phone call where he answered all my questions. I recently purchased a Clark F style mandolin and the Lafferty Vintage F oval hole model and I am in love. Not only is it a beautiful instrument with superb craftsmanship reminiscent of Gibson historic models, the tone and chop it produces is top notch compared to other high brands. In person you can tell that the hands that made the Lafferty took the time to get it right in the quality of woods and all the binding/details/finish. Would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a great quality instrument to add to their collection. Zach will not steer you wrong.Posted on Ryan FreemanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Zach and everyone at The Mandolin Store are running an amazing establishment. They are super knowledgeable and genuinely good people! I can’t wait to go back and buy another mandolin haha I bought a Lafferty LF1 (The Mandolin Store’s house brand) and I was blown away by the overall craftsmanship, playability, and sound of the Lafferty mandolins. I had my mind set on a Northfield and left with a Lafferty! I’ve been playing it everyday since. Thank you Zach and TMS for everything you do! Weather you live in Ohio or far away, it’s worth the trip!Posted on Josh BatesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It has been a month since I bought my mandolin at The Mandolin Store and I am delighted with my purchase. According to Zach, the mandolins sell themselves and that’s what happened with me. I scheduled my time in the store to try all different kinds and this beautiful Northfield won my heart. In my opinion, this is the best place to buy a mandolin! I certainly will be back for another one someday.Posted on G HTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I just bought a new Lafferty F style mandolin. It's outstanding tone/build for the money. I have been buying mandolins and guitars here for almost 10 yrs and are my go-to place. Prices and selection can't be beat. Dennis and his son Zach are two of the nicest and most helpful people you will meet. Always bend over backwards to assist me in special shipping or other things many stores wouldn't. Definitely THE place for mandolins. Thanks again for your help getting me my new mandolin. Its great.Posted on Barry OttmannTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'd been poking around local shops & the web looking for a good small-ish guitar for several months - most everything was lacking something on my list of criteria. However, Zach at The Mandolin Store came through - right guitar, right price & fast shipping. Check them out & give Zach a call, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.Posted on Jammil MontoyaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Mandolin Store has created an alternative platform for serious musicians to acquire serious instruments. I recently purchased my first Gibson F5G here, a dream of mine for many many years. But this is not just any Gibson F5G.. this is a custom model in a mesmerizing "Honeyburst" finish. Lets just say my wife is becoming increasingly jealous at the way I look and touch this mandolin. This model, and countless other unique builds, are exclusive to The Mandolin Store. Owner Zach Vance gave me a personalized customer service experience, allowing me to send a deposit and reserve this rare mandolin in advance. We communicated through call, text, and email with updates -- he gave the attention this type of transaction demands. Overall, my thoughts are this -- The Mandolin Store is filling a much needed void in the mandolin market, and I am grateful for that. This beautiful instrument, and the music it makes, needs to be preserved.Posted on R BennyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I traveled from New York and was not disappointed. I played 12-15 quality mandolins going back and forth between some when I was narrowing it down. Zach is knowledgeable, a great guy, and asked beforehand if there were particular mandolins I wanted to try so they would be ready to play. They have a great selection of mandolins and some other instruments as well. If you are a serious mandolin player you'll be like a kid in a candy store.Posted on Ken ShowalterTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wow..A+++ I just want to give Zach a big shout out for an outstanding exsperience. You don't come across many folks anymore that actually still understand the true meaning of "customer service" the way he does. I will definatly spread the word for anyone looking for an Eastman instrument. Thanks again for renewing my faith. The E10 OO is stunning, plays great and was a real value. Truly, more than anticipated... Many thanks again..!!
