This is all that should be needed for a mandolin that is built properly
Recently we have been frequently asked by customers "do you do a complete fret dress"? A properly built new mandolin should not need a complete fret dress. Keep in mind that a fret dress takes life out of the frets each time it is done. Usually instruments with a lot of fret issues have frets that are lifting which cause fret buzz. You could dress the frets completely and fix it. However, if 4 or 5 frets are all ready lifting, what if other frets comes loose? When we see these issues, we consider the instrument to be defective and return it to the manufacturer. Our experience selling high end instruments such as Weber, Collings and Gibson are reflected in our shopwork and standards.
